Radio
In March 2008, the Timbers entered into a multi-year partnership with Sportsradio 95.5 The Game to broadcast a majority of the team’s road matches and select home games on the all-sports FM station. 95.5 The Games serves as the club’s exclusive English-language radio broadcast partner.
Additionally, streaming broadcasts for all 30 regular-season games and potential exhibition and postseason matches will continue to be available online at www.portlandtimbers.com.
Veteran Timbers announcer Andy McNamara returns for a ninth season and once again will be joined by John Strong, a Sportsradio 95.5 The Game on-air personality, in calling the action in 2009.

The Portland Timbers will have 10 of their 30 regular-season matches televised during the 2009 season. The club’s television schedule includes a seven-game package on FSN, featuring premier home matches at PGE Park throughout the season. The Timbers and FSN started a multi-year partnership to air home matches in 2008. The remainder of the Timbers’ televised matches will air on Fox Soccer Channel, including an away match against the Charleston Battery on Aug. 28.

Andy McNamara – Play-by-Play Announcer Serving as the voice of the Timbers since 2001, McNamara brings nearly 20 years of play-by-play experience to the team’s broadcasts. Prior to joining the Timbers, McNamara was the play-by-play announcer for the University of Portland soccer program and spent time as a color commentator for the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Cup. A graduate of the University of Maine, he currently serves as assistant director of media services for the University of Oregon Athletics. Andy and his wife, Tami, have two daughters, Mazie and Tilly, and live in Eugene, Ore. John Strong – Color Analyst / Play-by-Play
Strong, a life-long Oregonian, enters his fourth season as a member of the Timbers broadcast team in 2009. An on-air personality at Portland’s Sportsradio 95.5 The Game, Strong is the host of the weekday show Strong at Night and is the producer for The Bald Face Truth with John Canzano – the top-rated local sports radio show in Oregon. Strong is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where he aided in the broadcasts for the Oregon Ducks women’s soccer team. His broadcasting experience stretches across six different sports, including soccer, basketball, football and lacrosse.
