The Timbers and University of Portland men’s soccer team took to the field Wednesday night in a charity match at Merlo Field. The 1,142 in attendance helped raise nearly $8,000 for Mercy Corps and its relief efforts in Haiti. 

Midfielder Brian Farber’s two-goal performance led the Timbers to a 3-3 draw Sunday in front of 14,283 at PGE Park, but the result allows Vancouver to advance to the finals with a 5-4 aggregate-series win in the semifinals. 

A goal and an assist from forward Charles Gbeke led the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-1 win over the Timbers at Swangard Stadium on Thursday as the Northwest rivals opened their semifinal series in the USL First Division playoffs.

A pair of goals by forward George Josten guided the Portland Timbers to a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland City Stars in their regular-season finale before 12,567 Thursday at PGE Park.
