Thompson, one of the longest tenured players in modern-franchise history, returns for a seventh season in 2010.
2009: During the season, became the Timbers modern-franchise leader in career games and minutes played ... Scored in a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Thunder June 19 at PGE Park ... Assisted the equalizing goal in a 1-1 draw at Charleston June 13 ... Named to the USL First Division Team of the Week in Week 8 ... Helped the Portland backline share the league lead in fewest goals allowed (19) ... Aided in the club’s run to the Commissioner’s Cup title.
2008: Started 27 matches and recorded 2,351 minutes with the Timbers ... paced the team with three assists ... also scored a goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 7 ... issued two red cards at PGE Park over the course of the season against the Atlanta Silverbacks on June 12 and Seattle Sounders on Aug. 7 ... was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week in Week 2.
