Thompson joins the Timbers for a sixth season in 2009. He was first loaned to the Timbers by the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer in 2004. 

2008: Started 27 matches and recorded 2,351 minutes with the Timbers ... paced the team with three assists ... also scored a goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 7 ... issued two red cards at PGE Park over the course of the season against the Atlanta Silverbacks on June 12 and Seattle Sounders on Aug. 7 ... was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week in Week 2.

2007: Started 27 matches and totaled 2,429 minutes, two goals and an assist with the Portland Timbers ... was a member of the Timbers backline that set a new modern-franchise record for fewest goals allowed in a single season (18) ... earned USL First Division All-League second-team honors ... was twice named to the league's Team of the Week.  

2006: Logged 1,795 minutes in 22 matches with the Portland Timbers ... scored a goal at Rochester on June 17 ... following the Timbers exhibition match, participated in a 10-day trial with English club Coventry City of the Coca-Cola League Championship in August. 

2005: Totaled 2,325 minutes in 26 matches with the Portland Timbers ... scored a career-high four goals and matched a career-high with two assists ... voted to the USL First Division All-League first team ... was one of three finalists for the league's Defender of the Year award ... was a four-time USL First Division Team of the Week selection ... following the Timbers exhibition match, missed two games to particiapte in a trial with English club Sunderland AFC of the English Premier League.

2004: Made one appearance with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy before being loaned to the Portland Timbers on July 8 ... played in 13 matches for the Timbers, starting 12 ... recorded a career-high two assists ... Portland allowed only 11 goals in the 13 matches that he appeared in ... down the stretch, helped the Timbers capture the USL First Division regular-season title.

2003: Drafted by Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in the second round (16th overall) of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft ... tore his ACL during preseason and did not make an appearance with the Galaxy.

COLLEGE: Enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at UCLA ... led the Bruins to the NCAA national title in 2002 ... was a NSCAA All-Far West second-team selection, a All-Pac-10 first-team selection and a Soccer America preseason All-American his senior season (2002) ... twice named All-Pac 10 honorable mention ... voted UCLA's rookie of the year in 1999 ... scored a career high four goals his freshman season, including the equalizer that sent a NCAA semifinal game against Indiana into overtime.

NATIONAL TEAM: Participated in the U-20 U.S. National Team training camp in 2000 ... played in four games with the U-20's, starting three.
