Rilatt returns for a fourth season as an assistant coach and the head coach of the Timbers’ development team – the Portland Timbers U-23s – in 2010.

 

A native Oregonian, Rilatt first joined the Timbers in 2007, and under head coach Gavin Wilkinson, has helped lead the Timbers to two USL First Division semifinals appearances (2007, 2009), the 2009 Commissioner’s Cup as the USL First Division’s regular-season champion and a USL record, 24-game unbeaten streak in 2009.
 

As the head coach of the Timbers U-23s, Rilatt coached the club to a second-place finish in the Premier Development League’s Northwest Division with an 11-3-2 record in its inaugural season. The Timbers U-23s advanced to the postseason before falling to the Seattle Wolves in the first round. Under Rilatt, the Timbers U-23s featured a high-powered offense, pacing the division with 43 goals.

 

Rilatt’s credentials include more than 20 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and youth levels. In recent years, he has coached at Willamette University, Lewis & Clark College, Warner Pacific College and Pacific University. During his 14 years of coaching at the high school level in the state of Oregon, Rilatt was a five-time Mt. Hood Conference Coach of the Year selection. In 1994, he led F.C. Portland’s U-18 team to a U.S. Youth Soccer national championship. Rilatt is a graduate of Portland State University and holds a USSF “A” coaching license.
