Biography:

Poltl returns for a fifth season with the Portland Timbers in 2008. Active in the Timbers' community outreach efforts, Poltl was named the Timbers Community Player of the Year in 2006.

2008: Made 25 appearances with the Timbers ... logged a Timbers-career high with 1,793 minutes played and recorded an assist ... was issued a red card on June 12 at PGE Park against the Atlanta Silverbacks ... joined Timbers career leaders over the course of the season in regular-season games (94) and minutes (6,216) minutes played.

2007: Played in 23 matches and logged 1,616 minutes and one assist for the Portland Timbers ... was a USL First Division Team of the Week selection for Week 14.

2006: Totaled 1,247 minutes in 22 matches for the Portland Timbers ... named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 17 ... was recognized for his philanthropic work in the Portland-area earning the Timbers' Community Player of the Year award.

2005: Made 24 appearances in his first season with the Portland Timbers ... totaled 1,560 minutes and two goals and one assist.

2004-2002: Served as a player/coach for the Orange County Blue Star ... in 2004, played 1,147 minutes and recorded four goals and three assists over 14 matches.

2000: Played in 25 matches and totaled 2,256 minutes and three assists with the Boston Bulldogs of the USL First Division.

1999: Played in all 28 matches and logged 2,587 minutes in his rookie season with the Boston Bulldogs of the USL First Division ... recorded a break-out season with four goals and seven assists - both career highs.

MLS: Was drafted in the second round (20th overall) of the 1999 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids ... participated in traing camps of both the Los Angeles Galaxy and New England Revolution.

COLLEGE: Played his collegiate career at UCLA from 1995-98 ... was a member of the 1997 Bruins national championship team, along with former Timber McKinley Tennyson ... earned a spot on the 1997 All-Tournament team for his part in the Bruins' championship run ... named a Soccer News All-American in 1997 ... was a two-time All-Far West selection in 1997 and 1998 ... recorded 13 goals and 16 assists during his UCLA career.

NATIONAL TEAM: Spent 1995-97 with the U.S. Men’s Under-20 National Team.

PERSONAL: Enjoys golfing and his Playstation in spare time ... is the nephew of Randy Poltl, former free safety for the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings.
